Robert Pattinson Wants to Film The Batman Part II Before He Gets Too Old

Since the release of Matt Reeves’ The Batman in 2022, DC fans have been kicking themselves and shaking their fists up to the sky, cursing that its long-awaited sequel keeps getting delayed. Now, Bruce Wayne himself, Robert Pattinson, is echoing fan sentiment, saying he hopes to don the cape and cowl before he gets any older.

While on a press tour for the Bong Joon Ho’s Mickey 17, Pattinson and co-star Naomi Ackie chatted with each other for Hero Magazine about how moviegoers are embracing weirder films. Along the lines of their conversation, Ackie asked whether Pattinson would be Batman “again soon.” Famously, The Batman Part II was initially scheduled for release in October 2025, but it was subsequently delayed to October 2026 and most recently set for an October 2027 release window.

“I fucking hope so,” Pattinson said. “I started out as young Batman and I’m going to be fucking old Batman by the sequel.”

When Ackie brought up that Pattinson being 38 doesn’t qualify him as being old, Pattinson responded, in kind, in the most Bruce Wayne way possible. Despite never taking a biological age test Pattinson said he’s gotten healthier and therefore, brought his biological age “down a bit.”

“In my mind I’m making it younger, but if I did it and they’re like, ‘Hmm, your biological age is like 80’—I don’t want to find that out. If I’m doing a job I can’t ever eat anything, even seasoning, I can’t have pepper,” Pattinson added. “I ate nothing but salmon and avocado for like five months. It actually made my memory better. It genuinely did.”

In a recent interview with Variety, Pattinson gave a promising update on The Batman Part II, promising that the film would be “very cool,” and “very exciting.” The only caveat being that the film won’t likely begin filming until “the end of the year.”

Be that as it may, fans have getting their Batman fix by watching its HBO spin-off series, The Penguin, starring Colin Farrell. Despite Farrell winning a Golden Globe for his performance as the titular villain, Farrell doesn’t want The Penguin to have a second season and instead wants to continue Oz’s story in The Batman II.

“We all left it in the ring in those eight hours. I would hate to, just because of a quote-unquote success, have to go again and for it to be a diluted version of what people seem to feel it is, majoritively. So I’m in no rush,” Farrell told Variety. “I have no deep desire to do it… Sure, if they think of something that works in conjunction as a parallel to Matt Reeves’ cinematic universe and it’s a good idea, I’m open it. But it’s not something concerning me.”

Should The Batman Part II stay the course and not experience yet another delay (knock on wood), DC fans should finally get the gratification of seeing Pattinson’s not-yet-elderly Batman pummel Farrell’s Oz Cobb for his crimes against humanity.
