BENGALURU: Infosys circulated an internal memo to its banking financial services and insurance (BFSI) division’s project managers, emphasising the return-to-office (RTO) guidelines to ensure effective service delivery to clients. The division plans to roll out these guidelines to the remaining staff members in the coming days.
“Of late, we have been having multiple delivery and security issues that are popping up across the teams, and our recovery back to green is not going as planned. The availability of team members is a concern, including taking accountability for the work aligned. Overruns have increased dramatically, and there is a gap in mentoring and grooming the junior team members. Respecting each other and working as a team is limited to very specific teams. These are not good indicators to ensure delivery excellence, and we discussed at length with the leadership and HR and decided to enforce working from the office for a minimum of three days per week,” the note said.
These project managers working for the unit were informed about the return-to-office arrangement effective April 1. It mandates a three-day work week, which will be finalised based on project teams, location, and offshore development space constraints, if any.
Separately, some of the managers working at Infosys who failed to comply with the required ten-day monthly in-office attendance received reminders reiterating its position on the hybrid work arrangement.
“As you know, the expectation is to be in the office for at least 10 days a month, or as per business requirement, whichever is greater. This requirement is designed to ensure effective teamwork while affording flexibility. As a manager, your influence extends beyond individual contributions; your presence in the office sets the standards of your team’s engagement. In leading by example, you help reinforce the importance of in-office collaboration, a critical part of our hybrid approach,” the note said. TOI has reviewed the email. An email sent to Infosys on the RTO guidelines didn’t elicit a response till the time of going to the press.
Infosys has maintained its position to allow employees to have the flexibility to work remotely and in physical offices. Two years ago, Infosys set up a plug-and-play facility in Yelahanka in Bengaluru to encourage employees to work from this facility.
