Bank Holidays for Holi 2025: Banks across various states will observe closures during Holi 2025, with specific dates varying by region. As per Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines, certain days are designated as holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act. These holidays are determined based on local traditions and customs.

Holi bank holidays: March 13 & 14, 2025

For Holika Dahan on March 13, 2025, banks will be closed in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand.
“Holika Dahan” represents a significant Hindu festival, translating to “burning of Holika”. This traditional bonfire ceremony occurs on the evening before the main Holi celebration.
On March 14, 2025, banks will not function in numerous states including Gujarat, Orissa, Chandigarh, Sikkim, Assam, Hyderabad (AP & Telangana), Arunachal Pradesh, Rajasthan Jammu, Bengal, Maharashtra, New Delhi, Goa, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, and Srinagar for Holi celebrations.

March 15 (Saturday) – Second day of Holi/Yaosang

Banks will operate in most states on March 15, 2025, being the third Saturday, which is a working day. However, banks in Tripura, Orissa, Bihar, Jharkhand and Manipur will remain closed on this date, as per the RBI website.

As per RBI guidelines, banks are closed on all Sundays and the second and the fourth Saturday of every month.
Service Availability
Despite physical branch closures in affected regions, digital banking services, including UPI payments and ATM operations, will remain functional. Bank customers should organise their branch visits considering these holiday arrangements to prevent any difficulties.
