Star Wars Celebration Just Announced 4 Very Exciting Panels

Spread the love

The next four Star Wars projects will officially be on display at Star Wars Celebration Japan. The event, which takes place April 18-20, has yet to reveal its full schedule, but four of its biggest panels were just announced and they provide a glimpse at what the immediate future of the franchise holds.

That future, of course, starts with The Mandalorian and Grogu. The summer 2026 release, directed by Jon Favreau, has already finished filming so you can imagine fans may see not just a trailer or two, but learn more about what makes this story destined for the big screen. That panel will take place on Friday, April 18 in what is potentially the first of the event. (Do we think Lucasfilm would release a trailer online this early too? That would be cool.)

Saturday, April 19 turns its attention to TV with panels on Andor and Ahsoka. Andor season two will be just days away from premiering so in addition to some cast and crew being on hand, fans will probably get to see at least one episode from the show, if tradition holds. As for Ahsoka, very little is known about season two outside of where season one left things. Creator Dave Filoni is sure to change that with this panel, and maybe we’ll even get some concrete details on when we can expect to watch it.

Then on Sunday, April 20, we’ll learn more about Star Wars Visions season three. The excellent animated anthology series has been a Star Wars bright spot in recent years and fans will be excited to learn what animation studios are on board this year and what topics they’ll tackle.

That’s just four panels though—the four that will require reservations to attend (and you can learn more about that here). Lucasfilm confirmed to io9 that many more panel announcements are still to come. However, two big questions remain. Will one of those panels celebrate the 20th anniversary of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith? And when, if at all, could Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy talk about what lies beyond The Mandalorian and Grogu on the big screen? She seemed pretty locked into Shawn Levy’s film coming next and Celebration would be the place to announce that. But at which panel?

In the coming weeks we’ll have more in the lead-up to Celebration, and from the convention itself, here on io9.
